A "Good Apple" Story!

Many years ago, (before cell phones were so popular,) we had a wonderful military family as a buyer of an O'Fallon home, coming from Fort Huahuacha (or something like that,) in Arizona. When moving time came, the family came in two cars, separate from their belongings, with the teen age son driving his "older" car separately. The trip started with the family following the teenager, just to make sure they would pick up the lad in case of trouble, intending a route from Arizona, through Texas and then north to Illinois.

But somehow, while passing through Fort Worth about midday, they nontheless became separated, and sure enough the boy had car trouble. Without communication, the family decided the best thing they could do would be to continued north, getting "home" as soon as possible, and to us.

But the boy was stuck in Fort Worth, with us as his only contact, a "common denominator" as we were expecting his parents and the family, but not until the next day. So first of all, give tribute to the lad for doing the right thing and calling us. And he called from an auto repair facility. He had been towed to it, and had a diagnosis made, a failed fuel pump as I recall, but had inadequate funds to pay for the repairs, or much else, for that matter, with night approaching.
